bloggerupper 5: february?!
i’m looking and my clock says 2:00…
wow. blinked and the month of january flew by. some thoughts and highlights…
giverupper stuff
my mantra this year is “2026 is the year of performing live.” keeping an optimistic attitude and happy that i’ve had performances this winter.
got to share the stage with some wonderful artists at bookclub chicago- opalvinopal, wyatt wardell, myron laban, and dan wade. this was a neat event where each of us played 3 songs over 3 rounds and shared some insight on our songs.
performed at a local high school, sharing songs and the process behind some of the giverupper tunes. this was a cool one since we had the full group! rob dicke on drums (calamity flamtet), jackson jay kidder, joe cangelosi (true combo).
played at durty nellie’s! it was a treat to play with the full group on a bigger stage. nellie’s had a great sound crew and the night was fun.
got a house show coming up on 2/28. dm for address. playing with chamelienz
sent over some tracks to a homie! more to come on that soon.
other stuff
my dad’s cat passed away suddenly. it messed us all up. his name was jack and we would listen to records together. pet your pets and listen to music everyone <3
the sun is starting to come out again. get outside :)
i’ve always been a fan of the skateboarding podcast the nine club. the recent episode with pj ladd has been inspiring me. there is a quote that comes to mind, “we are what we predominantly think of.” in a world that is overflowing with negativity and problems, i’ve had to adapt this mindset to keep things going. not encouraging anyone to be unrealistic…just encouraging us all to stop and think…how am i thinking?
wishing everyone peace and love. the world is crazy right now. be there for each other, find opportunities for community, be grateful.
